Ski League

For kids aged 3-12 we've got lessons ranging from the Parent & Tot Bunny program to the Track Attach program for the kids who want to ski fast! All the coaches are fun and enthusiastic and love coaching kids.

Bunny Rabbits (Ages 3 to 5 accompanied by a parent) Led by our friendliest coaches at Telemark, children and parents will ski together exploring our ski playground, learning basic ski techniques and playing games. Parents play a big part in implementing this program and ensuring that the kids enjoy the sessions.
$35 Saturdays 10:30 a.m.

Introductory Jack Rabbits This program is geared for kids fresh out of the bunny program or first time skiers to learn basic classic technique skiing skills and to establish a lifelong interest in the sport. Emphasis is on learning classic technique skills through a variety of fun activities.
$45 Saturdays 10:30 a.m.

Jack Rabbits Building on the skills learned in the introductory class, kids are introduced to skate skiing and advanced technique instruction.
$45 Wednesdays 6:30pm and Saturdays 10:30am

Track Attack The objective of this program is for kids with several years of skiing experience to become technically competent cross-country skiers, and to utilize those skills to explore a wide range of cross-country ski activities from back-country excursions to ski tournaments and fun races.
$45 Wednesdays 6:30pm and Saturdays 10:30am

All Ski League participants are encouraged to participate in both the Telemark "Tips Up Cup" fun race and the 'Kelowna Apple Loppet' hosted at Telemark. Entry fees are waived for all Ski League participants in both of these races.

Junior Racing Program (Ages 9 to 15)

The Telemark Junior Racing program is open to technically competent kids wishing to advance their skiing experience into the racing environment.

Junior Development Team
Bridging the gap between Ski League and the Junior Racing Team with emphasis on skiing fast and good technique. Athletes will be coached by the Club's Head Coach in dry land an on-snow training sessions, and will be encouraged to enter some local races with the team. $100 Wednesday evenings and Saturday mornings

Junior Racing Team
This program is for experienced youth skiers who want to improve their technique and race at a competitive level. With an emphasis on fun and camaraderie, skiers learn to ski fast utilizing great technique. Athletes will participate in dry land and on-snow training sessions and will be expected to enter all of the races as set out in the team schedule. Coached training sessions will take place three times per week during the ski season supervised by the Club's Head Coach. For more info contact James Williams at 979-1255.
$150 Tuesday and Thursday evenings and Saturdays

Dual Biathlon Program
Designed as an add-on program for registered members of the Junior Racing Program who want to include the Biathlon discipline to their ski racing experience. Lead by Rob Swan, the sessions will run twice weekly and focus more specifically on the shooting portion of the sport. For more information contact Rob Swan 764-2615

Masters Program (Ages 20+)

Geared for men and women who want advanced training and technique instruction. Individuals who are interested in improving their skiing ability or wish to participate in local races are encouraged and welcome to join the group. This program will be lead by Murray Farbridge and will include both skating and classic technique. Proceeds from the Masters' program will got to support the Junior Racing Program. School Ski Program

The School Ski program is available to all Kelowna and surrounding area schools from grade five to twelve. Taught by Telemark Volunteer NCCP Coaches, groups of students are initially taught basic classic technique basics with further lessons progressing to advanced technique and an introduction to skate skiing. Lessons are reinforced with fun relay races in the stadium area and on the trails as the students learn to ski safely with their groups. Ski Lessons

 

Telemark Nordic Ski School is operated as a club program by Jack Smith, a certified CANSI instructor and a NCCP level 3 coach.  Jack has been a member of Telemark Ski Club since its inception and has experience as a coach at a provincial and national level.  He has taught skiing from Jackrabbits to adults.  Additional certified CANSI instructors are Phyllis Smith and Danielle Weill.

 

Lessons will be offered at 10:30 am and 1:00 pm.  A 24 hour booking is required but special request lessons may be booked at alternate times with 24 hours advanced notice.

 

The following will be offered in Classic and Skating techniques:

            Private lesson:                      $45.00 - 1 hour

            Group (2 people):                 $35.00 - 1 hour

            Group (3 to 6 people):         $28.00 ea. – 1 hour

 

 

PROGRAMS:

 

1st Time out

This program is geared for people who think they might like to learn to ski and who do not have equipment – included is a 1 hour lesson, ski pass and rental equipment.  Cost is $40.00

 

Skate Clinics

These will be offered for a minimum of 4 or more people and each session will be 2 ½ hours in length and will take place tentatively on Saturday afternoons at 12:30 pm.  They will be tailored for people who want to improve or tune-up their skating skills.  Cost is $35.00.   Sign up on the bulletin board or register by phone or email.

 

Adults night

This program was very successful last year and we are offering it again.  Each  session is four consecutive Thursday evenings.   Start time is 6:30 pm lasting until 8 pm.  Classic and skating sessions will be Feb, 7, 14, 21 and 28. The cost is $100.00.  Equipment rentals will be available on these evenings.  A minimum of 4 persons per technique is required.  Please sign up on the bulletin board or register by phone or email.

Special Olympics (Ages 6 to Adult)

This program is open to any person with a developmental disability. The Youth Program (ages 6-12) is a fun way to get started skiing while playing games. The Junior and Adult program (ages 13 years and up) also focuses on fun while building strength, endurance and technique leading towards competition. Training sessions will be on Saturdays.
